I stood in the vets office after having put my beloved Boomer Jo to sleep. The hardest decision of my life...a truly rough day. If you have ever had a dog that you loved this much, you know. He taught us how to be parents before God ever blessed us with actual children. He was a terrible puppy and ate our brand new couch, cost us more than $ 1,000 to repair all of his mistakes. In the end the lessons who taught us were priceless. I used to be able to hear him saying...stick with me guys, in the end I will be a great dog. He was a great dog, a great friend, a great listener and boy did he love Dory and Crush. I miss him every day still but today on this day at this time it is really hard to believe he is gone and not coming back.

this makes me want to get rid of our dogs right now before i get too attached. then again, i fear it's too late. your sweet boomer is so cute all curled up. i'll pray for your broken heart today.
Seriously this is why I'm not sure if I will have pets again if something happens to mine. Although all that love is worth it.
So sad Jen, sorry today is rough. I bet Boomer knew how much you loved him..you both were lucky to have each other in your lives!
I will be a mess when I have to say my last goodbye to Emma...she is my gem!
i'm so sorry. we just got a puppy and before we took him home we explained to them that sometimes - most times we outlive our pets, but to not think about that and cherish every moment you have with them. So that one day they can have special memoriees like you did with yours. Praying for you girl!
Our four-legged children are indeed perfect training for two-legged ones, aren't they? I know he's glad you "stuck with him" all those years, and I bet he's looking down on you now, repaying the favor.
